Open PhD Position

We are currently looking for a motivated and talented PhD student, driven to get involved in cutting edge research in the areas of haptic feedback for wearable computing and AR/VR. The student would join an excellent and highly ambitious team at the forefront of research in the areas of intelligent interactive systems, AR/VR and HCI. The position is fully funded for at least three years and can be extended to four years. The project will be carried out with a partner at EPFL specialized in soft-materials and soft actuators. Applicant profile

We invite applications from outstanding individuals with suitable background for example in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Graphics, Electrical Engineering or related fields. An interdisciplinary perspective and experience is valued. Specifically experience in one or more of the following topics will be helpful:

  1. HCI, especially interaction techniques or input devices or computational fabrication
  2. Numerical Optimization
  3. Machine learning (Deep-learning in particular)

Excellent programming skills in C++ or other high-level language are expected and experience in Matlab, Python, OpenGL, or CUDA are beneficial. Fluent communication skills (written and presentation) in English are essential.
